  2.     Cloud 9 Internet is a public access Internet system based in 
  3. White Plains, New York.  We provide a wide variety of services such as 
  4. Internet, Usenet, email, and archives with popular programs for all sorts 
  5. of computers.  We are the first public access Internet site in Westchester.

  7.     As we add (or plan to add) new services, the information contained 
  8. in this file will change.  To get a new copy of it, finger 'info@cloud9.net', 
  9. or send email to 'info@cloud9.net'.

  11. How to reach us
  12. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  14.     If you are located in Westchester county, you can call us for the 
  15. cost of a local call.  You can also telnet here via the Internet (cloud9.net 
  16. or 198.202.211.2).  We currently have 5 lines, and this is sure to expand as 
  17. the system grows.  We plan on having enough lines for enough users so you 
  18. will never get a busy signal.

  20.     We also plan on offering local access in Upper Westchester, and also
  21. Rockland county.  Future plans also may include Fairfield County (203).

  23. Using the system
  24. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  26.     You can use your account here on Cloud 9 either via our easy to use 
  27. menu system, or via a Unix shell.  People who don't know Unix, or are new to 
  28. computing to general, should find the menu easy to use.  
  29.  
  30.     Unix users have their choice of ksh, csh, tcsh, zsh, or bash.  There 
  31. are also many popular UNIX utilities, and most of the GNU utilities available 
  32. including gcc, and emacs.

  34. The Internet

  37.     Cloud 9 Internet is a full Internet site, directly connected to 
  38. the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via a 56k leased line.  This means 
  39. that your email will be delivered instantly, your Usnet news articles 
  40. propogated instantly, and you will have the ability to ftp, telnet, and 
  41. gopher to any other Internet site anywhere in the world.  We will move to a 
  42. faster connection (a T1) when we have enough demand for one.

  59. Our pricing is as follows:

  61.     Full Internet access - $150/year in advance, or $45/quarter

  67.         - Access to FTP, telnet, gopher, archie, wais, www, etc.
  68.         - Your choice of Unix shell or our menu system
  69.         - 2MB of storage space

  71.     Usenet Only access - $75/year in advance, $22/quarter

  80.     All accounts have access to high speed lines.  There are no high 
  81. speed surcharges, no hourly charges, and no extra usage charges.  All you pay
  82. is the quarterly or yearly fee.

  84.     You do not get any of the Internet services such as ftp, telnet, etc. 
  85. with a Usenet account -- you need to purchase an Internet account for these 
  86. services.

  88.     Both accounts are for your personal use only.  This means that you
  89. as an individual can use the account, and if you are a one-person company
  90. you can also use this account.  You may not share this account with multiple
  91. people.  Corporate accounts are available for companies who want Internet 
  92. access for more than one person, but do not have the desire to maintain a 
  93. IP connection.

  97. Paying for it all
  98. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  100.     Currently, the only method of payment is check/money order, but we 
  101. will be accepting MasterCard/Visa/Discover/American Express shortly.  However 
  102. you choose to pay, you will receive a paper invoice mailed to you.

  104. Signing up
  105. ~~~~~~~~~~

  107.     If you like everything so far, you might now want to give us a 
  108. call.  Our main modem number is (914)682-0384.  This rings down to 
  109. other lines, so this is the only number you need.  When you connect, login 
  110. as 'new', with no password.  Once we verify your account, you will receive 
  111. a trial membership, good for a week.  In that time, you will have a Usenet 
  112. Only account, and will be able to browse the system to see if you like it.  
  113. If you are not satisfied with the system, all you do is let your account run 
  114. out -- you don't owe us anything.

  118. can also send us email at staff@cloud9.net.  Whichever method you choose, we 
  119. will usually get back to you that day.
